Business Tycoon Kamal Kishore Chaurasia’s Daughter-in-Law Found Dead in Suspected Suicide in Delhi’s Vasant Vihar
New Delhi, Nov 2025 : In a tragic and shocking incident, Deepti Chaurasia, the daughter-in-law of prominent pan masala industrialist Kamal Kishore Chaurasia, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the family’s residence in Vasant Vihar, one of South Delhi’s most upscale neighbourhoods. Police suspect the death to be a case of suicide.
Deepti, 40, was married to Harpreet Chaurasia, son of the well-known businessman behind popular brands such as Kamla Pasand and Rajshree. According to officials, she was found hanging in her room on Tuesday afternoon, allegedly using a dupatta.
Initial information suggests that Harpreet discovered her and immediately rushed her to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after a post-mortem examination, which has been scheduled at Safdarjung Hospital by a team of senior forensic experts.
Police recovered a handwritten note from Deepti’s room, in which she reportedly stated that no one should be held responsible for her death. The note also contained a deeply emotional line attributed to her: “If there is no love and trust in a relationship, what is the point of life?”
Investigators believe that personal or family-related distress may have played a role in the tragedy, although they emphasised that a detailed probe is currently underway. No foul play has been ruled out yet, and officers will record statements from family members and close acquaintances as part of the inquiry.
Deepti and Harpreet were married in 2010 and are parents to a 14-year-old son. Police sources said the child was not present at the house at the time of the incident.
The body has been sent for an autopsy, and the investigation will proceed based on the post-mortem report and forensic findings. As of now, no official statement has been released by the Delhi Police regarding the circumstances leading to her death. The Chaurasia family has also not issued any public comment.
Kamal Kishore Chaurasia is a well-known figure in India’s pan masala industry, running a multi-city business spanning Kanpur, Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. Starting nearly four decades ago from a modest stall selling loose pan masala in Kanpur’s Feelkhana area, he gradually built the Kamla Pasand brand into a multi-billion-rupee enterprise.
Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
