Punjab Becomes the First State in the Country to Implement ‘Easy Registry’ System for Land and Property – Chief Minister

A decision taken with the aim of making the registration process simple, fast and transparent
Another unique initiative in the direction of revenue reforms

Fatehgarh Sahib, Nov 2025 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today, taking yet another revolutionary step, has implemented the ‘Easy Registry’ (simple system) for land and property for the convenience of the people of the state.

The Chief Minister welcomed all those who witnessed the launch of this historic initiative undertaken to root out corruption and ensure transparent governance. He said that for decades, land and property registration has been considered a complicated and time-consuming process. For this, people had to make repeated rounds of sub-registrar offices, facing a lot of trouble, delays and corruption. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that people earlier had to go to the concerned sub-registrar office to get their property registered, which caused extra burden and inconvenience.

The Chief Minister said that now, with the “Easy Registry” system implemented, property registration in Punjab has entered a new era of simplicity, speed and transparency. He said the “Easy Registry” system will completely eliminate unnecessary delays and hassles for citizens. He said that for the first time in India, a state has taken such a step to make property registration so simple. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that under this initiative, any sub-registrar office within a district will now be able to register properties located in any area of that district.

The Chief Minister said that now citizens can prepare the ‘sale deed’ online or through service centers by paying a nominal fee of only ₹500. He said that under the “Sarkar Tuhade Dwar” (Government at Your Doorstep) scheme, people can call helpline number 1076 to avail this service. He said documents can be submitted online within just 48 hours. He also said that now the tehsildar will not be able to raise unnecessary objections on land and property registration. For this, a 48-hour time limit has been fixed, and if any objection is raised, it will immediately be sent to the concerned Deputy Commissioner, who will verify whether the objection is valid.

The Chief Minister further said that citizens will receive updates at every stage of the registration process through WhatsApp, and if anyone demands a bribe, a complaint can also be filed directly on WhatsApp. Bhagwant Singh Mann said he feels very proud to share that now the Deputy Commissioner will be responsible for ensuring that every property registration is completed smoothly. For this purpose, the sub-registrar office in Mohali has been upgraded with a help desk and a comfortable waiting area.

The Chief Minister said that earlier registration could be done only at the sub-registrar office under whose jurisdiction the property was located. People did not even receive information about the progress of their registration or any objections raised. Now, at every stage—from submission of documents, approval, payment, objection, to the final preparation of documents—real-time updates will be received on WhatsApp. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that a 48-hour time limit has been set for raising objections or verifying documents, and this system will also reduce additional expenses related to registering sale deeds.

The Chief Minister said that through the “Draft My Deed” facility, any person can prepare their registration document themselves with the help of a service center or service assistant. He said that there will be no need to present separate proof of monetary transactions, which will save citizens from multiple trips to the bank. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that people will no longer have to repeatedly visit government offices to collect their registration documents.

The Chief Minister said that after the registration is completed, citizens will receive confirmation on WhatsApp, allowing them to collect their sale deed in a single visit. He said the state government is continuously bringing more citizen-friendly reforms and strengthening service centers and helpline number 1076 so that people do not have to unnecessarily visit offices for their work. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this historic milestone in administrative reforms aims to provide large-scale convenience to people so they can receive services smoothly and without hassle.
