CM Bhupendra Patel present at the grand felicitation ceremony of Parsi religious leaders in Ahmedabad
Chief Minister praises the social contributions of the Parsi community, including the Ariz Khambatta Trust
A grand felicitation ceremony honouring Parsi religious leaders was held in Ahmedabad in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel. On this occasion, the Chief Minister felicitated the distinguished priests and spiritual heads of the Parsi community.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Parsis have made an invaluable contribution to nation-building, and that generosity itself is synonymous with the Parsi identity. He appreciated the community’s deep-rooted spirit of service and devotion.
The ceremony was organized by the Ariz Khambatta Benevolent Trust (AKBT). Founding Trustee Shri Piroj Khambatta stated that the event embodies Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi” (Development along with Heritage). AKBT is dedicated to uplifting marginalized communities through health, education and social welfare, and has also carried out significant work for the welfare of people living with HIV. On this occasion, the trust also announced a new scholarship for youth pursuing religious education within the Parsi community.
The Chief Minister recalled the contributions of eminent Parsis such as Madam Bhikhaiji Cama, Homi Bhabha, the Tata, Wadia and Godrej families, and Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw towards nation-building. He added that the forefathers of the community embraced the Bhagavad Gita’s message of “Swadharma” after settling in India, and have blended into Gujarat’s social fabric like sugar dissolving in milk.
As part of the two-day event, several other attractions have been organized in addition to the felicitation ceremony. Cultural programmes such as plays, music and comedy have been arranged to help the younger generation connect with their traditions and heritage. The ceremony saw large participation from Parsi leaders, head priests, and representatives of social organizations from across the country.
