Cheetah is like a Crown Jewel and Kohinoor in State’s Rich Forest Wealth : CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that, following resolve of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the reintroduction of cheetahs in Kuno National Park of Sheopur has taken a new direction. On the occasion of International Cheetah Day , female cheetah Veera and her two cubs were released into the open forest area. The number of cheetahs has now gone up to 32, including 3 in the Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary. With the successful rehabilitation of cheetahs, Kuno National Park has now emerged as a centre of international importance. Third-generation cheetahs born on our own soil are now roaming in Kuno. The five cubs of Mukhi, a female cheetah born in Kuno, are healthy—this is very good news. The cheetahs of Kuno are now ranging from Sheopur to Morena and even into Rajasthan. In the state’s rich forest wealth, the cheetah is like a crown jewel and the Kohinoor diamond.
On Thursday, during an event held in Kuno National Park of Sheopur district on International Cheetah Day, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav released three cheetahs from the
enclosure into the sanctuary for free movement. He said that all living beings on the land of Madhya Pradesh will remain safe, and the state government is committed to this. Advanced radio-tracking systems and dedicated teams will ensure strict monitoring. On the occasion, the Chief Minister released the Kuno National Park Calendar–2026 and the book “Field Manual for Clinical Management of Free-Ranging Cheetahs in Kuno National Park.” He also inaugurated the newly built souvenir shop in Kuno National Park. Dr. Yadav congratulated all the people of the state on Cheetah Day and thanked the Forest Department team for the success of the cheetah project.
Cheetah population rising rapidly
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is the state of tigers, leopards, and cheetahs. Our forests are home to many wildlife species. For the first time in the world, cheetah reintroduction took place in Madhya Pradesh, and the Forest Minister and officials deserve appreciation for this achievement. Due to cheetah reintroduction in Sheopur and Kuno, tourism has increased five times. As the cheetah population grows rapidly, resettled people around Kuno National Park are also gaining new employment opportunities.
