Putin Concludes Two-Day State Visit to India, Thanks New Delhi for Warm Welcome
New Delhi, Dec 2025 : Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday concluded his two-day state visit to India, marking a significant moment in bilateral diplomacy as External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar was present at the airport to see him off. The Russian Embassy in New Delhi confirmed his departure through a post on social media platform X, stating that President Putin expressed his gratitude for the “warm welcome” extended by India during the visit.

Sharing the update, the Embassy wrote: “Russia’s President Vladimir Putin’s two-day state visit to India concluded. EAM @DrSJaishankar was present at the departure of the Russian leader from New Delhi. The President expressed his gratitude to the Indian side for the warm welcome during the visit.”
The visit, spread over two tightly scheduled days in the national capital, included summit-level talks, ceremonial engagements and multiple high-level bilateral meetings focused on strengthening cooperation in defence, economic ties, energy security and regional stability. Though the Embassy’s post only highlighted the conclusion of the trip, the visit itself marked one of the most important diplomatic engagements between India and Russia this year.
During his stay, President Putin held extensive formal talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders reviewed the overall state of the India-Russia partnership, particularly as the relationship completes 25 years since being elevated to the level of a Strategic Partnership. Both sides exchanged views on global developments, regional security challenges and long-term strategic priorities.
The high point of the visit was the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, which followed the leaders’ bilateral discussions. At the summit, the two nations issued a Joint Statement outlining a detailed roadmap for future cooperation. Key areas of collaboration included energy security, nuclear power, defence manufacturing, trade expansion, advanced technology and innovation. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic engagement and strengthening defence cooperation.
President Putin was also hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at an official banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday evening. In her remarks, President Murmu described the India-Russia relationship as one that has remained “steadfast for many years” and expressed confidence that bilateral ties would continue to grow stronger in the future. She underscored the historical bonds, cultural connections and the wide-ranging partnership spanning political, economic, scientific, educational and people-to-people exchanges.
In addition to his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, the Russian President interacted with several senior Indian leaders and officials. Discussions focused on ongoing joint projects, strategic coordination at international forums, and future opportunities for collaboration in emerging sectors such as digital technology, industrial manufacturing and clean energy.
The visit comes at a time when both India and Russia are seeking to expand economic ties, streamline energy cooperation and explore new avenues of technological and industrial partnership. With multiple agreements signed and long-term goals reaffirmed, the two-day visit has further strengthened the strategic foundation of India-Russia relations.
