Mizoram Finance & Accounts Services Association Holds 30th Annual General Conference
Aizawl, December 2025: The Mizoram Finance & Accounts Services Association (MFASA) today held its 30th Annual General Conference at the Aijal Club. Home Minister Pu K. Sapdanga graced the occasion as the chief guest, and Association President Pu Vanlalsawma presided over the conference.
The Home Minister said that since MFAS officers are responsible for managing the state’s finances and accounts, they shoulder an extremely important responsibility. He urged them to work with utmost care, accuracy and professionalism. Emphasising that Mizoram is a resource-deficient state with limited internal revenue, he noted that a large portion of current financial resources comes from debt financing and loans. Major development projects also rely heavily on external funding from agencies such as JICA and the World Bank through Externally Aided Projects.
He said that given this challenging financial situation, MFAS officers play a crucial role in ensuring prudent financial planning and achieving better financial outcomes for the state.
The Minister stressed the need for greater efficiency and competence in today’s rapidly evolving global environment. He highlighted the importance of timely execution of centrally sponsored schemes and projects, along with the prompt submission of Utilization Certificates—tasks in which MFAS officers are directly involved. He also emphasised the need for quicker processing of sanctions and approvals.
The Minister encouraged the use of digital technology to improve areas such as pension payments and management of the General Provident Fund (GPF), making systems more accessible and citizen-friendly. Above all, he reminded MFAS officers that they are public servants whose work must reflect empathy, service-mindedness and a genuine commitment to helping the people.
During the morning session, chief guest Pu Sapdanga released the ‘MFAS Directory 2025’. MFASA Adviser Pu Ramchuana addressed the gathering, followed by the presentation of the Association Report by MFASA Secretary Pu C. Lungmuanpuia. Newly recruited MFAS officers were felicitated, and MFASA Treasurer Pi Malsawmdawngliani delivered a vote of thanks before the session concluded.
In the afternoon session, presided over by President Pu Vanlalsawma, several resolutions were discussed. These included:
- urging the government to actively implement pension (OPS) reforms in Mizoram,
- organising workshops on financial management, and
- conducting audit training sessions with C&AG/PAG.
