Lawngtlai District Election Officer Holds Coordination Meeting in Chanchinbu

Lawngtlai, December 2025: Pu Donny Lalruatsanga, District Election Officer (DEO) of Lawngtlai, conducted a coordination meeting at his office chamber regarding smooth conduct of the upcoming LADC-MDC elections.

Pu Lalruatsanga expressed his appreciation for the officers who have been working diligently. He informed that, following directives from the State Election Commission (SEC), preparations for the elections are being carried out meticulously. He emphasized the responsibilities of all personnel involved, including district council executive secretaries and subordinate staff, highlighting the importance of their cooperation in ensuring a smooth electoral process.

The DEO also stated that to ensure free and fair elections, coordination with the Superintendent of Police and other security personnel is being strengthened. He highlighted the role of civil society organizations, NGOs, MPF, and CYLA in promoting awareness and transparency among voters.

Pu Lalruatsanga discussed the strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct, reminding political parties of their obligations. He stressed that prompt action will be taken against any violations, and that all election officers must ensure effective oversight. He also noted that voter participation by LADC members is crucial for a credible election.

Regarding postal ballots, the DEO explained that on 29th November, Pu Lalnunpuia (Nodal Officer) and security personnel verified one postal ballot vote. He also mentioned that provisions for ex-gratia payments to polling officers have been arranged where applicable.

During the meeting, Pu David Lalrinawma and Pu H. Zonunmawia (Returning Officers) and members of the Mizoram Journalist Association (MJA), Lawngtlai attended. The MJA representatives were informed about proper election procedures and security measures, ensuring that they can report accurately on the election process.

The DEO emphasized that thorough planning, effective coordination, and strict adherence to election guidelines are key to conducting smooth and credible elections in Lawngtlai district.
