CM Approves ₹1,209.8 Crore Sewerage Projects in Pune Metropolitan Region
Nagpur, Dec 2025: At a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, administrative approval was granted for sewerage works worth ₹1,209.8 crore in 27 villages under the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). These projects are expected to benefit a population of 39.42 lakh in the area.
During the meeting, CM Fadnavis directed the authority to prepare a “Fire Prevention Measures Plan” for Pune city, utilizing funds collected through the fire service fees.
The 13th meeting of PMRDA was held at the Council Hall of the State Legislature. Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar were also present.
CM Fadnavis stated that the remaining ₹300 crore fund collected through fire service fees should be used for implementing fire prevention initiatives across Pune. He emphasized the revival of rivers passing through the city to prevent pollution and instructed authorities to ensure that no untreated or polluted water is discharged into these rivers.
Regarding traffic safety, the CM directed that work on the service roads of National Highway 48 and NH 548 DD near Navale Bridge should commence to reduce accidents. Alternative measures for accident prevention near Navale Bridge should also be explored, with coordination among the relevant authorities. Furthermore, the feasibility of transferring facility plots under PMRDA’s jurisdiction to the Pune Zilla Parishad should be examined before taking further action.
CM Fadnavis also instructed that the Mann-Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 project should be completed within the stipulated timeline and become fully operational for passenger services as planned.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O.P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) Asim Kumar Gupta, and others. Pune Municipal Commissioner Yogesh Mhase presented the agenda. Departmental Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, and District Collector Jitendra Dudi were present through the foresight system.
Expansion of PMRDA:
The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority encompasses 697 revenue villages across 9 talukas in Pune district, covering a total area of 5,383 square kilometers.
These projects aim to improve urban infrastructure, sewerage management, river rejuvenation, fire safety, and metro connectivity, contributing to the overall development of the Pune metropolitan region.
