PM Modi Praises Jordan Crown Prince, Strengthens Bilateral Ties
Amman, Dec 2025 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met Jordan’s Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II and praised his leadership and contributions across key areas including youth development, sports, space, innovation, and the welfare of persons with disabilities. The interaction marked an important highlight of PM Modi’s official visit to Jordan and underscored the growing warmth in India–Jordan relations.
Sharing his thoughts on social media platform X, PM Modi said he had interacted extensively with the Crown Prince during his visit and noted his strong commitment to Jordan’s progress. The Prime Minister lauded the Crown Prince’s efforts in empowering young people, promoting innovation, supporting sports, advancing space-related initiatives, and working for the inclusion and welfare of persons with disabilities. PM Modi conveyed his best wishes to the Crown Prince for his continued role in strengthening Jordan’s development journey.
In a gesture reflecting the close personal rapport between the two leaders, Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II personally drove Prime Minister Modi to the airport as he departed for Ethiopia later in the day. Earlier as well, the Crown Prince had driven PM Modi to the Jordan Museum in Amman, highlighting the warmth and mutual respect that characterised the visit.
At the Jordan Museum, the two leaders explored the shared civilisational and historical links between India and Jordan. Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, Vice-Chair of the Jordan Museum, gave them a special guided tour. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that the visit symbolised the centuries-old connections between the two nations and reflected the shared emphasis on preserving heritage alongside development.
During his visit, PM Modi also addressed the India–Jordan Business Forum, where he highlighted the vast potential for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and business. Both King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II were present at the forum, signalling strong political support for deeper economic engagement between the two countries.
Earlier on Monday, PM Modi met King Abdullah II at the Al Husseiniya Palace and proposed that India and Jordan work towards increasing bilateral trade to $5 billion. The Prime Minister also suggested collaboration between Jordan’s digital payment systems and India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI), highlighting India’s experience in digital public infrastructure as a potential area of partnership.
As part of the visit, the two sides finalised several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering diverse areas such as culture, renewable energy, water management, digital public infrastructure, and a twinning arrangement between Petra in Jordan and Ellora in India. These agreements are expected to further strengthen institutional cooperation and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
After concluding his Jordan visit, PM Modi departed for Ethiopia at the invitation of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. This marks PM Modi’s first-ever visit to Ethiopia and reflects the growing strategic importance of India–Ethiopia relations, particularly in the context of India’s expanding engagement with Africa.
