Science, Innovation and Humanity: Dr. Mashelkar’s Work is Inspiring – Minister Chandrakant Patil
Mumbai, December 2025 : The work of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Raghunath Anant Mashelkar, who has delivered a global message of human welfare by eliminating social inequality through science, education, and innovation, is highly inspirational for the younger generation, said Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Dada Patil.
On the occasion of International Human Solidarity Day, the book “More from Less for More: Innovation’s Holy Grail” authored by senior scientist Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar and Sushil Borde was released at the Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba, Mumbai. The publication was organised jointly by Eternal Corporate Media Pvt. Ltd. and Inspiring India. Minister Chandrakant Patil, along with other dignitaries, unveiled the book.
Present at the event were Emeritus Professor of the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) Padma Vibhushan Dr. M.M. Sharma, Reliance Industries Limited Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh D. Ambani, Bajaj Auto Limited Chairman Niraj Bajaj, Godrej Industries Group Chairman and MD Nadir Godrej, Marico Limited Chairman Harsh Mariwala, Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions Founder and CEO Sulajja Motwani, Eternal Corporate Media Pvt. Ltd. Chairman Kripashankar Tiwari, and MD & CEO Alok Tiwari, along with many other notable personalities from the industry, education, and research sectors.
Minister Patil said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concept of the New Education Policy has been implemented more effectively due to Dr. Mashelkar’s valuable guidance. Because of his contribution to major reforms in higher and technical education, the new National Education Policy, and advice on Maharashtra’s policy for Artificial Intelligence, the state holds a leading position in the country today.
He highlighted that Dr. Mashelkar’s achievement of receiving 54 doctorate degrees is an unprecedented milestone in India. Rising from a modest background to becoming a global scientific leader, his life journey serves as a guiding path for the youth. Recognised worldwide as one of the finest scientists, Dr. Mashelkar’s inspiring journey continues, and Minister Patil expressed hope that he may one day be honoured with the Nobel Prize and the Bharat Ratna.
Speaking on International Human Solidarity Day, Minister Patil noted that unity, inclusiveness, and collective responsibility are crucial for nation-building. Science, education, and innovation play a powerful role in addressing poverty, inequality, and social challenges. The core message of Dr. Mashelkar’s ideology—“creating equal opportunities despite inequalities”—will inspire youth, startups, researchers, and policymakers, he said.
He also mentioned that Jio University will soon be established in Maharashtra, introducing modern and innovative courses to help young people achieve global recognition.
Congratulating the organisers for successfully hosting the event, Minister Patil appreciated the contribution of all dignitaries towards national service and solidarity. The coffee table book “The Pride of India: Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar” and “Divya Vaigyanik” were also launched. Dr. Mashelkar shared insights from his life journey and expressed gratitude to everyone present.
