Lalu Prasad Yadav Undergoes Successful Eye Surgery in Delhi, Recovering Well

Patna, Dec 2025 : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav successfully underwent cataract and retinal surgery at a New Delhi hospital on Saturday. His family members and doctors confirmed that the procedure went smoothly and his condition remains stable. Lalu Prasad’s daughter, Misa Bharti, updated well-wishers through social media, stating that the surgery had been successful and that he was recovering rapidly.

The combined eye surgery was performed under the supervision of renowned ophthalmologist Dr. Mahipal Singh Sachdev, Chairman and Medical Director of the Center for Sight Group of Eye Hospitals. According to hospital sources, the procedure was completed without any complications, adhering to internationally accepted medical standards and modern surgical techniques.

Dr. Sachdev informed that Lalu Prasad Yadav’s cataract and retinal surgeries had been successfully completed as per schedule. He added that advances in medical technology have made such procedures safer, more precise, and significantly less painful than before. With proper follow-up care and routine medical checks, he is expected to recover swiftly.

Elaborating on recent developments in ophthalmology, Dr. Sachdev noted that cataract and retinal surgeries have undergone remarkable transformation. Today, many procedures are virtually painless and bladeless, aided by innovative machines and improved surgical accuracy. These advancements not only ensure faster visual recovery but also minimise disruption to daily life. He further highlighted that most eye surgeries are performed as day-care procedures, allowing patients to return home the same day instead of requiring long hospital stays.

After the operation, Lalu Prasad Yadav was discharged and is now resting at home. Doctors have advised him to follow a regular schedule of checkups and post-operative care to monitor his progress and safeguard eye health.
