KTR Challenges CM Revanth to Seek Resignations of Defecting MLAs, Accuses Congress of Governance Failures

Hyderabad, Dec 2025 : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Saturday, December 20, challenged Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to ask all 10 defecting BRS MLAs to resign and face by-elections. He said doing so would allow the people to give a clear verdict. Addressing the media in Hyderabad, KTR also stated that BRS supremo and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) will soon offer “clear guidance” to the party cadre at an upcoming state-level meeting.

KTR alleged that some defecting MLAs misled the Telangana Speaker about their political intentions and likened them to “bats,” switching positions for personal gain. He also criticised the Congress government’s decision to expand the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits. Describing the plan as unscientific and arbitrary, he warned that splitting Hyderabad into multiple municipal corporations would trigger administrative confusion and “municipal chaos.” The BRS leader claimed the decision was taken without proper consultation with residents, public representatives, or urban experts.

Targeting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally, KTR mocked his recent football appearance with Argentine football legend Lionel Messi. “Revanth Reddy may play football with anyone, but the people will surely play football with him,” he remarked, adding that voters would hold the Chief Minister accountable for what he called failures, deception, and arrogance in governance.

On the issue of reservations, KTR accused the state government of betraying backward classes (BCs). He said the Congress had promised 42 percent BC reservation in local body elections but reduced it to 17 percent. Highlighting BRS’s performance, KTR said the party had given 50 percent of its general Lok Sabha seats to BC candidates and 34 BC tickets in assembly polls. He questioned why Congress had not fulfilled its promise of implementing a ₹20,000 crore BC sub-plan and granting BC-D category status to the Mudiraj community.

KTR also alleged an “unholy alliance” between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), questioning why CM Revanth Reddy attended a BJP MP’s housewarming ceremony in Delhi. He claimed that a BJP leader even helped redesign the Chief Minister’s residence on Tughlaq Road, New Delhi.

Expressing concern about the investment climate in Telangana, KTR claimed that businesses were shifting to neighbouring states, including Andhra Pradesh, due to policy instability and fear under the Congress government. He said the BRS would continue to expose what he described as misgovernance, broken promises, and political deals between the ruling Congress and the BJP.
