Raipur, 22 December 2025 : The income of farmer Shri Yogesh Agrawal has increased through grafted brinjal cultivation.

The farmer-friendly policies of the state government are showing excellent results. Shri Yogesh Agrawal, a progressive farmer from village Semariya (B) of Bhatapara block in Balodabazar–Bhatapara district, has succeeded in increasing his income by cultivating grafted brinjal. Shri Agrawal said that earlier he used to practice vegetable farming through traditional methods. Later, he received the benefit of the Grafted Brinjal and Tomato Demonstration Scheme under the National Agriculture Development Programme through the Horticulture Department.

He stated that the incidence of diseases in grafted brinjal is less compared to conventional farming. Along with this, production is obtained in all three seasons. It also requires less water and involves lower labour cost. The plants are stronger, which has improved production. Shri Agrawal mentioned that this technique is providing economic benefits to farmers.

It is noteworthy that the Horticulture Department is implementing the Grafted Brinjal and Tomato Demonstration Scheme under the National Agriculture Development Programme with the objective of connecting farmers in the district with modern technology and increasing their income. This scheme has been implemented in the district for the first time. Under the scheme, farmers are cultivating grafted brinjal and tomato, for which a grant amount of Rs 30,000 per demonstration is being provided.

The district has received a target of 188 demonstrations, against which 188 farmers have been selected as per the rules, and they are being provided the benefits of this scheme.
