High-Level Task Force On Infrastructure Connectivity & Logistics Cost Holds Meeting
Aizawl, December 2025: The High-Level Task Force on Infrastructure Connectivity and Logistics Cost, constituted under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), held an online meeting today.
The meeting was convened by the Convener, Dr. Manik Saha, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, with members participating virtually. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Lalduhoma, joined the meeting from his office. Union Minister for the Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, was also present.
During the discussion, Chief Minister Lalduhoma underscored that under the Act East Policy, Mizoram occupies a pivotal geographical position in Asia for enhanced connectivity and connectivity-led economic growth. He highlighted the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project as a key initiative for regional integration.
He further stated that the rail line up to Sairang has been completed and that its extension to Zorinpui would significantly boost economic activity across the North Eastern Region. Strengthening road and rail connectivity, he noted, would enhance Mizoram’s role as a major transit hub, particularly with the development of Zorinpui and Zokhawthar as important border trade points.
He also emphasised that the establishment of multimodal logistics hubs at Sairang and Lawngtlai would further facilitate the movement of goods and people across the region.
The Chief Minister urged that future road construction adopt robust concrete engineering standards to ensure durability, reduce long-term maintenance costs, and improve logistical efficiency, thereby contributing to sustained economic gains.
The Task Force is in the process of finalising its report, which will outline actionable recommendations to improve infrastructure connectivity and reduce logistics costs across the North Eastern Region.
Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner & Secretary to the Chief Minister of Mizoram, along with senior planning officials, were present during the proceedings.
