Special Drives to Be Launched Against Illegal Mining
Jaipur, December 2025 : Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the Aravalli mountain range is a priceless natural heritage of the state and that the state government is fully committed to its conservation. He made it clear that the government’s stand is firm and no kind of tampering with the natural form of the Aravalli range will be allowed. To curb illegal mining, he directed that special joint campaigns be launched in the Aravalli districts by the Forest and Environment Department, Mines Department, Police, and other concerned agencies. He emphasized that all departments must take strict action in close coordination.
The Chief Minister was chairing a review meeting of the Forest and Environment and Mines departments at the Chief Minister’s residence on Saturday. He stated that the state government will not grant permission for any new mining activities in the Aravalli region. He added that the Central Government has also issued directions in this regard, which will be uniformly applicable across the entire Aravalli belt. These measures will help preserve the natural character of the mountain range and effectively prevent irregular and illegal mining.
Dense Plantation Under Green Aravalli Development Project
Chief Minister Sharma said that the state government has ensured strict compliance with the guidelines issued from time to time by the Supreme Court and the Central Empowered Committee (CEC), along with all environmental protection measures, while granting mining leases. He informed that a ₹250 crore Green Aravalli Development Project has been formulated to rejuvenate and green the Aravalli range. Under this project, dense plantation is being carried out over an area of 32,000 hectares across the Aravalli districts.
Senior officials from the Chief Minister’s Office and the Forest and Environment and Mines departments were present at the meeting.
