Krushi Gyan Lecture Series: Viksit Odisha for Viksit Bharat”

Lecture Series commenced at Krushi Bhavan : A new initiative by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment.

Odisha is way ahead in many states in terms of agri-skill development

Bhubaneswar, Jan 2026 : The Deptt. of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment has introduced a lecture series titled “Krushi Gyan Lecture Series: Viksit Odisha for Viksit Bharat”, the first such lecture series commenced on 06th January 2026 at Krushi Bhavan Auditorium, Bhubaneswar, with an inaugural lecture focusing on the future roadmap of agricultural development in India, with special emphasis on Odisha by Dr. Mangi Lal Jat, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

Dr. Jat delivered a very erudite lecture on “Vision Plan for Viksit Bharat 2047 in the field of Agricultural Research, Education and Extension with a focus on Odisha”. He said, Odisha is a living laboratory for others in science-led agricultural transformation. Odisha is way ahead in many states in terms of agri-skill development. Dr Jat appreciated the transformation and vision of agriculture in Odisha.

The lecture highlighted strategic priorities, innovations, and policy directions in agricultural research, education, and extension systems that are crucial for achieving the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, while addressing Odisha’s unique agro-climatic and socio-economic context.

The “Krushi Gyan Lecture Series: Viksit Odisha for Viksit Bharat” aims to create a platform for meaningful dialogue among farmers, policymakers, researchers, academia, students and development stakeholders to deliberate on Odisha’s role in India’s development journey in agriculture sector.

Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary, DA&FE provided the brief introduction of the guest and thanked the DG, ICAR for gracing the event. Followed by a question-answer session. Additional Secretary Shri. Shubhranshu Mishra delivered the welcome address & Joint Director of Agriculture Dr. Sangram Keshari Pattanayak, delivered the vote of thanks.

The event was attended by senior government officials, scientists, academicians, representatives from OUAT, and various ICAR institutions.
