Aam Aadmi Party Launches Sharp Attack on Congress–BJP Alliance: Did BJP Join Hands with Congress to Defeat Its Own Ally, the Shinde Sena?
New Delhi, January 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress now appear to be openly joining hands. Parties that project each other as their biggest enemies across the country are today seen standing together for the sake of power. What unfolded in the Ambernath Municipal Council in Maharashtra’s Thane district has brought this political reality into the open. In post-poll developments, the BJP and the Congress came together to oust the BJP’s own alliance partner, the Shinde-led Shiv Sena, from power.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal raised sharp questions over the developments in the Ambernath Municipal Council. In a tweet, he asked whether the BJP had joined hands with the Congress just to defeat its own alliance partner, the Shinde Sena. Questioning the entire episode, Kejriwal asked what exactly was going on and what kind of politics was being presented before the public.
AAP’s National Media In-charge Anurag Dhanda also launched a strong attack on the BJP and the Congress over the issue. In a tweet, he remarked that earlier the BJP and Congress used to meet secretly like lovers, but now their relationship has become completely public. Dhanda questioned whether this was not an attempt to mislead the people of the country.
The post-poll alliance between the BJP and the Congress in the Ambernath Municipal Council clearly shows that parties which abuse each other from public platforms can go to any extent when it comes to gaining power. At the national level, these parties accuse each other of anti-nationalism and communalism, yet at the local level, they do not hesitate to join hands to capture power.
The Aam Aadmi Party said that the entire episode exposes the collusion between the BJP and the Congress. Putting up a show of opposition in front of the public while sharing power behind the scenes reflects the true face of old-style politics. The question, AAP said, is that if these parties are genuinely opposed to each other, then why do they come together when power is at stake?
AAP further stated that this issue is not limited to Maharashtra alone. It raises a larger question about politics across the country—whether the public is being continuously misled. The party asserted that it will continue its fight for truth and honesty against such political practices.
