Review of District-Level Programmes to Be Implemented on the Occasion of the ‘Hind Di Chadar’ Martyrdom Commemoration Year

Nandurbar, Jan 2026 : On the occasion of the 350th martyrdom commemoration year of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Sikh Guru immortalised in history as ‘Hind Di Chadar’, a district-level review meeting was held at the District Collector’s Office to take a comprehensive stock of the various programmes being implemented in the district in connection with the national event being organised at Nanded. Presiding over the meeting, District Collector Dr. Mittali Sethi issued clear, time-bound and coordinated instructions to all concerned departments, emphasising that the organisation of the commemorative year programmes should not remain merely ceremonial, but should serve as an effective medium for ideological awareness and public enlightenment.

The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad Naman Goyal, District Superintendent of Police Shravan Dutt S., Additional District Collector Dhananjay Gogate, Resident Deputy Collector Asha Sanghvi-Gangurde, Regional Transport Officer Uttam Jadhav, along with officials from the education department, urban development department and other concerned Zilla Parishad offices.

Addressing the gathering, District Collector Dr. Sethi said that the values imparted to society by Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji—religious freedom, human rights, tolerance and supreme sacrifice—are even more inspiring in the present times. Therefore, conveying the message of his life and work to the younger generation is not merely a religious responsibility, but also a social and administrative duty. With this perspective, she directed that all government departments, educational institutions and social organisations should work together in a coordinated manner.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on organising essay competitions, elocution contests, slogan competitions, discussion sessions and lectures at school and college levels, along with documentary screenings, poster exhibitions and literature displays based on the life and work of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. The District Collector instructed that these initiatives should help inculcate constitutional values, religious tolerance and a sense of social unity among students.

It was also clarified that all departments should disseminate the information available on the official website provided by the government at their respective levels. Through social media, educational platforms, public places and official channels, the objectives of the programmes should be widely publicised so that the message reaches the general public.

In view of the national-level main programme scheduled to be held at Modi Maidan in Nanded on January 24 and 25, 2026, Dr. Sethi stressed that it is essential to complete all district-level activities within the stipulated time. She directed the transport department and other concerned agencies to make advance preparations to ensure necessary facilities, guidance and coordination for citizens, representatives and students participating from the district during this period.

As per the instructions given in the meeting, the District Collector further stated that each department should clearly define its responsibilities and ensure immediate implementation, and that all programmes should be carried out effectively with active public participation.
