Three Maharashtra Police Officers Conferred with ‘President’s Police Medal’; 17 with ‘Police Shaurya Medal’ and 39 with ‘Police Medal’
New Delhi : On the eve of the 78th Independence Day, the Union Home Ministry awarded Police Medals for outstanding service in the Police Force. Chiranjeevi Ramchabila Prasad, Rajendra Balajirao Dahale, and Satish Raghveer Govekar of the Maharashtra Police were honored with the ‘President’s Police Medal’ for distinguished service. Additionally, 17 police officers and personnel from the state received the ‘Police Shaurya Medal’, and 39 policemen were awarded the ‘Police Medal’ for meritorious service.
The ‘President’s Police Gallantry Medal’ and the ‘Police Gallantry Medal’ are awarded for acts of conspicuous bravery in protecting life and property, preventing crime, and apprehending criminals. The ‘President’s Police Medal’ for Distinguished Service is given for particularly outstanding achievements in the Police Service, while the ‘Police Medal’ for meritorious service is awarded for invaluable service rendered with resourcefulness and conscientiousness. A total of 908 police officers and personnel across the country were awarded Police Medals on Independence Day 2024, including 59 from Maharashtra.
The recipients of the President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service from Maharashtra include Chiranjeevi Ramchhabila Prasad, Additional Director General of Police; Rajendra Balajirao Dahale, Director; and Satish Raghveer Govekar, Assistant Commissioner of Police.
Seventeen police officers in the state were awarded the ‘Police Shaurya Medal’, including Dr. Kunal Shankar Sonawane, Sub-Divisional Police Officer; Deepak Rambhaji Awte, Sub-Inspector of Police; the late Dhanaji Tanaji Honmane, Sub-Inspector of Police (Posthumous); and several other distinguished personnel.
Thirty-nine police officers and personnel from the state were honored with the ‘Police Medal’ for their meritorious service, including Dattatray Tulshidas Shinde, Deputy Inspector General; Sandeep Gajanan Dewan, Deputy Inspector General; Shivaji Gyandev Phadtare, Deputy Superintendent; and many others.
