EF&CC Minister Attends 24th Batch Forester Training Convocation
Aizawl, January 2026: Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Pu Lalthansanga on Monday attended the Convocation Programme of the 24th batch of Forester trainees as the chief guest at the Forester Training School Conference Hall, Bethlehem Vengthlang. The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Pu Rajeev Kumar Tiwari, attended the programme as the guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Pu Lalthansanga congratulated the trainees who successfully completed the Forester training. He urged them to apply the knowledge and skills they acquired during training effectively in their professional duties. He emphasised that field staff are the public face of the Forest Department and therefore must work closely and harmoniously with local communities and various organisations.
The Minister stressed the importance of creating widespread public awareness on the conservation and protection of forests, trees, bamboo, wildlife and the natural environment, so as to strengthen cooperation between the Forest Department and the public. He encouraged the trainees to continuously dedicate their skills and capabilities towards the welfare and long-term interests of the land and the people.
PCCF Pu Rajeev Kumar Tiwari also addressed the convocation, appreciating the dedication and hard work of the officers and instructors of the Forester Training School in imparting training to the trainees. He advised the newly trained foresters to retain and apply the lessons learned during training and to maintain strong coordination with the public in the discharge of their duties.
The Forester Training School was established in November 1974. Since its inception, 336 Foresters and 643 Forest Guards have successfully completed their training from the institution. The 24th batch comprised 12 trainees, all of whom passed with honours. As part of their training, the trainees undertook study tours to various national parks and forest divisions within Mizoram as well as outside the state.
During the convocation programme, Pi Aarti Chaudhary, CCF (RTM), delivered the welcome address, while the training report was presented by Pi Vanlalnunpuii Hmar, Principal of the Forester Training School. The vote of thanks was proposed by Pu Agni Mitra, CF (P&D), bringing the programme to a close.
On the occasion, Minister Pu Lalthansanga also presented awards to outstanding trainees as follows:
- PCCF Gold Medal for Topper with Honours: H. Lalnunfela
- Chief Wildlife Warden Silver Medal for Highest Score in Wildlife Management: H. Lalnunfela
- Chief Conservator of Forests Silver Medal for Highest Score in Silviculture: C. Lalruatfela
- Chief Conservator of Forests Silver Medal for Highest Score in Forest Protection and Law: Lalringzuala
- Additional PCCF Gold Medal for Best Conduct: Ricky Lalhmachhuana
