Special Focus on Connectivity, Education, Health, Employment, Roads, Drinking Water, Electricity, and Communication
Raipur, January 2026 : Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai emphasized that the development of Raipur city will face no shortage of funds. The state government is committed to developing Raipur along the lines of a metro city, ensuring modern and robust systems for roads, drinking water, electricity, healthcare, sanitation, and civic amenities. The CM made these remarks while addressing a high-level review meeting on the overall development of Raipur and nearby areas at the Mahanadi Bhavan Secretariat today.
Shri Sai stated that urban local bodies have been provided 2.5 times more resources than earlier for infrastructure development, enabling high-quality and timely development in the capital region.
Highlighting the pressures caused by rapid urbanization in Raipur—including traffic, housing, water supply, and public services—he stressed the need for both short-term and long-term practical plans to meet the city’s needs for decades to come.
The CM clarified that comprehensive development of Raipur is possible only when the Municipal Corporation, Railway, and Public Works Departments work in coordinated and planned manner. Officers were instructed to prioritize ground-level issues and requirements raised by local representatives in their planning and execution.
The meeting discussed in detail the city’s drainage system, encroachments at major intersections, resale of vacant shops in commercial complexes constructed by the corporation, strengthening health infrastructure, and upgrading facilities at Mekahara Medical College.
Progress on improving sanitation, drinking water supply, water treatment plants, sewage networks, maintenance of playgrounds, and slum redevelopment projects was also reviewed to ensure a tangible improvement in urban living standards.
Considering future requirements, the CM directed proposed projects for underground electricity lines, new roadways, flyovers, public buildings, and stadiums.
All relevant departments were instructed to submit proposals promptly to the Chief Secretary’s office and ensure that essential infrastructure works are completed within specified timelines, so that Raipur can be developed into a modern, well-organized, and citizen-friendly capital.
