Chief Minister Meets DoNER Secretary A. Kawm
Aizawl, January 2026: Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma on Friday met Pu Chanchal Kumar, IAS, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), at his office during the latter’s visit to Mizoram. The two discussed various development initiatives being implemented in the state through the Ministry of DoNER.
The Chief Minister requested that pending projects of the Mizoram government under the DoNER Ministry be expedited. He pointed out that delays in the sanctioning of funds often adversely affect the pace of implementation of development works, and stressed the need to consider measures to shorten the approval process.
Pu Chanchal Kumar informed the Chief Minister that the Ministry of DoNER has welcomed the recently established Areca Nut (Sawhthing) Processing Unit in Mizoram. He noted that areca nut cultivation is a major source of livelihood for a large number of farmers in the state and that production has been steadily increasing. He added that the processing unit is being accorded high priority by the Ministry of DoNER.
The meeting was attended by Pu Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner and Secretary to the Chief Minister, who accompanied the Chief Minister during the interaction.
