Historic Step for Women’s Health – Minister of State for Health Meghna Bordikar
Country’s First ‘Menopause Clinics’ Launched in the State
Mumbai, January 2026 : With women’s health at the forefront, ‘Menopause Clinics’ have been launched in all government hospitals across the state as well as in urban areas, said Minister of State for Public Health and Family Welfare Meghna Bordikar.
Minister Bordikar stated that menopause is an extremely sensitive phase in a woman’s life. Physical changes, mental stress, hormonal imbalance, bone-related disorders, sleep disturbances, and depression during this period have largely been neglected so far. Recognising this need, the state government has decided to establish dedicated ‘Menopause Clinics’ for women.
She said that through these clinics, women will receive expert medical advice, mental health counselling, examinations related to bones, heart and hormones, medical treatment, and proper guidance—all under one roof. Maharashtra has become the first state in the country to launch such ‘Menopause Clinics’. This initiative taken by the state government for women’s health will serve as a guiding example for other states.
Emphasising that menopause is not a disease but a natural phase in a woman’s life, Minister Bordikar said that women require strong physical and emotional support during this period. The Menopause Clinics have been started to ensure that every woman in the state receives appropriate counselling, treatment, and dignity during this important phase of life, she added.
