All-Round Development of Bastar Region: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Development Projects Worth ₹284 Crore Announced for Kanker District

Raipur, January 2026 : Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has said that the Bastar region will witness all-round development in the coming years. He stated that Left-wing extremism is nearing its end in the state, and once it is completely eliminated, rapid development will be clearly visible across the Bastar region. The Chief Minister was addressing a public programme in Pakhanjur of Kanker district, where he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development works worth ₹284 crore.

During the event held at Netaji Subhash Stadium, the Chief Minister also made several important announcements aimed at the development of the Paralkot region. A major announcement included the decision to start education in the Bengali language in primary schools of 135 villages belonging to the Bang community from the upcoming academic session.

Other key announcements included the construction of a road from Sambalpur to Pakhanjur via Durgukondal, development of a Gaurav Path from Pakhanjur Mandi Gate to Anjari Nala, construction of a cement concrete road from the Pakhanjur fish market to Nar-Narayan Seva Ashram, building a boundary wall for the Government Girls’ School playground, launching a fire brigade vehicle service in Pakhanjur, and establishing Dhanvantari Generic Medical Stores at the Pakhanjur Civil Hospital.

Extending Makar Sankranti greetings to the public, Chief Minister Sai said the state government is moving steadily towards development with a strong commitment to clean and transparent administration. He noted that the government is working swiftly by following the vision and resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In just two years, approvals have been granted for 18 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, with 8 lakh beneficiaries already receiving house possession. Similarly, 70 lakh women are benefiting under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana.

He further said that several key schemes such as Niyad Nellanar, Dharti Aaba Abhiyan and PM Janman are being implemented in tribal-dominated areas, accelerating development activities. The Chief Minister’s Pilgrimage Scheme has been restarted, and paddy is being procured from hardworking farmers at ₹3,100 per quintal, up to 21 quintals per acre.

The programme was also addressed by Kanker MP Shri Bhojraj Nag and Antagarh MLA Shri Vikramdev Usendi.

Later, the Chief Minister visited Nar-Narayan Seva Ashram, where he offered prayers and wished for the prosperity and well-being of the people of the state. He said the ashram, founded on the principle that service to humanity is service to God, is carrying forward faith and tradition. He also paid tributes by offering floral respects to the statue of revolutionary martyr Gaind Singh at the Pakhanjur main road.

Several public representatives, including MLA Shri Asharam Netam, State Handicrafts Board Chairperson Smt. Shalini Rajput, District Panchayat President Smt. Kiran Nareti, former MP Shri Mohan Mandavi, former MLA Shri Manturam Pawar, and a large number of local residents were present on the occasion.
