Ayodhya to Get Floating Public Bathing Kund by Holi
Lucknow, Jan 2026 : Ayodhya, the world-famous birthplace of Lord Ram, is moving towards another unique initiative in the field of religious tourism. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Ayodhya Development Authority is constructing a modern floating public bathing kund on the Sarayu river to promote tourism.
Vice Chairman Anurag Jain said that the facility is likely to be completed by February and is expected to become operational by Holi. The project is being developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 3.5 crore. It aims to provide devotees and tourists with a safe, convenient and modern bathing facility, further enhancing Ayodhya’s appeal as a major pilgrimage and tourism destination. The floating bathing kund is being constructed by Litmus Marine Innovation Private Limited.
Floating Kund Based on Modern Structure
The floating bathing kund will be developed on a modern 25 metre × 15 metre floating structure, built using pontoons and high-strength fibre materials. The structure will automatically adjust to fluctuations in the river’s water level, ensuring stability and safety in all seasons.
Two Bathing Kunds, Ten Changing Rooms
The complex will include two grand bathing kunds, each measuring 15 metres × 4 metres. One kund will be exclusively for men and the other for women, ensuring privacy and safety for all users. The facility will also have ten changing rooms, five each for men and women. From a safety perspective, the complex will be equipped with safety barriers, railings, solar lighting, benches and an emergency support boat.
To encourage tourism-related activities, the premises will also house seven shops where local products, puja materials and other essential items will be available for visitors.
Attraction for Foreign Tourists as Well
Bathing in the Sarayu river is an integral part of Hindu tradition. Since the era of the Ramayana, the river has been regarded as sacred, and it is believed that bathing in its waters washes away sins. Following the inauguration of the Ram Temple, millions of devotees have been visiting Ayodhya.
The addition of a modern facility like the floating bathing kund is expected to attract not only domestic pilgrims but also foreign tourists. The project also emphasizes environmental conservation and river cleanliness, as the floating structure will help reduce the spread of waste along traditional river ghats.
