Jaipur Hosts Commonwealth Parliamentary Delegation with Cultural Evening and Dinner
January 2026 : Jaipur hosted a special cultural program and dinner at the Constitution Club on Saturday to honor the arrival of the international parliamentary delegation of Commonwealth countries, following the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC).
In his address, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla highlighted that hosting the 28th CSPOC in India reflects the country’s age-old tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava” (Guest is God). He emphasized India’s vast diversity in geography, language, cuisine, and rich cultural and historical heritage. He also noted Rajasthan’s unique features, including its expansive deserts, grand palaces, rivers, and stepwells, calling the state a land of courage and valor, where Maharana Pratap upheld dignity while resisting adversaries. Birla felicitated Governor Haribhau Bagde and expressed gratitude to the state government for the successful organization of the event.
Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani welcomed the Commonwealth parliamentary delegation, calling the occasion a matter of pride. He noted that international dialogue and interaction foster cultural understanding, mutual respect, and brotherhood. Devnani highlighted Rajasthan’s blend of valor, hospitality, tradition, and resilience, along with the state’s commitment to development and public welfare despite its challenging terrain.
The cultural evening showcased Rajasthan’s diverse heritage through folk and classical performances, including Langa-Manganiyar singing, folk dances, Chang-Dhap, Kathak, Ghoomar, and Bhavai dance.
Governor Haribhau Bagde and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma graced the event with their presence, alongside the Leader of Opposition, cabinet members, MPs, MLAs, and other dignitaries.
The delegation, which includes Speakers, members, and senior parliamentary officials from Commonwealth countries, is visiting Jaipur as part of a two-day post-conference tour following the 28th CSPOC.
