Hyderabad May Host Annual WEF Follow-Up Forum: Revanth Reddy Proposes July Event
Davos, Jan 2026: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy proposed hosting a follow-up World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting every July in Hyderabad, a suggestion that received unanimous support from global business leaders and policymakers at the “Join the Rise” event in Davos.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted that a one-year gap between WEF meetings is too long for follow-ups in today’s fast-paced business cycles and investment decision-making. He suggested that WEF organize an annual follow-up forum in Hyderabad during July or August, urging global leaders to collaborate: “I request you to join me in making this happen – to bring a July WEF Forum to Hyderabad.”
CM Reddy reflected on the success of the Telangana Rising Global Summit, held at Bharat Future City in December 2025, which drew investments totaling over ₹5.75 lakh crore. “Typically, we come to Davos to sign MoUs, but this year, following the success of our Global Business Summit, our focus is on presenting Telangana’s vision and investment policies,” he said.
During the Davos event, the Telangana delegation showcased the state’s growth framework and vision for 2047, highlighting key initiatives like the launch of the Telangana AI Innovation Hub (TAIH) and the Telangana Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026–2030.
The delegation, including Ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, outlined transformative projects such as metro rail expansion, road development, and rejuvenation of rivers, lakes, and water bodies. They also presented plans for new economic zones, a smart city, and a manufacturing hub, positioning Telangana as a China+1 alternative for global investors.
Emphasizing Telangana’s investment potential, the leaders invited global companies to contribute technology, knowledge, and expertise. The Chief Minister also highlighted Hyderabad’s emergence as a global hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and its development as India’s first city to operate 24 hours, focusing on a vibrant night-time economy along the River Musi.
Revanth Reddy shared details of Bharat Future City, a sprawling smart city over 30,000 acres, with more than 50% green cover, designed to be future-ready and comparable to the best global cities.

The event also featured a special appearance by Indian actor Chiranjeevi, adding cultural flair to the high-profile dinner.
With this proposal, Telangana aims to strengthen its global visibility and maintain momentum from the Telangana Rising Global Summit by facilitating yearly engagement with WEF stakeholders. The Chief Minister’s initiative seeks to ensure that Hyderabad continues to attract high-value investments and remains at the forefront of technology, innovation, and sustainable urban development.
This initiative, if realized, would make Hyderabad the first Indian city to host a WEF follow-up forum, bridging the gap between policy announcements and real-time investment action while furthering Telangana’s vision for 2047 economic growth and global competitiveness.
