Greater Public Awareness on Heart Diseases is Essential

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav launched a series of free heart disease screening camps at Vidya Bhavan, located near the Chintaman Ganesh Temple, on Sunday. He said that heart-related ailments are increasing due to several health conditions and that cases of heart attacks are rising across all age groups. The free heart screening camp, he added, is a commendable and exemplary initiative. Irregular lifestyles and unhealthy dietary habits increase the risk of heart disease, and cases have risen sharply after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has launched the Ayushman Bharat Niramayam Yojana, under which treatment up to ₹5 lakh is borne by the government. With the launch of this campaign, all essential heart-related tests will be conducted, and citizens will also receive consultations from senior specialists. If any condition is detected during screening, treatment will be initiated promptly. Emphasising that a healthy body is the greatest wealth, he said there is a pressing need to spread maximum awareness about heart diseases. He stated that the Malwa region is continuously strengthening its healthcare services. The state government has recently launched air ambulance services for critical cases, and super-speciality hospitals are being established across the state.

The free heart disease screening campaign has currently begun in Ujjain, and will be expanded across the entire state in the coming period. It will be implemented as a pilot project. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Ujjain will soon get a medical college, and a medical device park will also be established shortly. Keeping the Simhastha Mahaparva in view, the city is witnessing fast-paced development in religious tourism as well as industrial growth. He expressed hope that the camps would help resolve the health issues of the people and prayed for their well-being. He said that on the occasion of Mahashivratri, a large-scale forest produce fair will be organised in Ujjain. This will be followed by the commencement of Vikramotsav and the Vikram Trade Fair, with several major events scheduled in the coming days.

Campaign Chief Coordinator Satyanarayan Khoiwal said that the initiative is being organised to mark the completion of two years of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s tenure, and will continue till March 20. The campaign is being conducted by Purnimashri Seva Organisation with the support of the district administration. Hospitals extending special support include S.N. Krishna Hospital and Avanti Hospital (Ujjain), Amaltas Hospital (Dewas), Anant Heart Hospital (Bhopal), Index Medical College, Aurobindo Medical College, and Gokuldas Hospital (Indore), along with the Indian Medical Association, Ujjain.

Under the campaign, a chain of camps will be organised at multiple locations. Experienced doctors will provide consultations related to heart diseases. Facilities will include ECG, ECHO, lipid profile, blood sugar tests, and other basic investigations, Ayushman card enrolment, free treatment and surgeries under government schemes, and ambulance services. All these services will be provided completely free of cost.

The event formally commenced with the lighting of lamps before the portraits of Bharat Mata and Goddess Saraswati. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav formally inaugurated the campaign by pressing a remote button. Shri Vikram Singh welcomed and felicitated the guests.

Principal of the Indore Ayurveda College Dr. Prajakta Tomar, delivered a presentation on the treatment of heart diseases through Ayurveda, detailing symptoms of heart attacks and their management through Panchakarma, and advised the inclusion of millets in the daily diet.

On the occasion, CM Dr. Yadav also released a pamphlet prepared by the Indian Medical Association and felicitated doctors rendering services in the camp.

Among those present were Shri Jagdish Agrawal, former minister Paras Jain, Shri Rajendra Bharti, Shri Iqbal Singh Gandhi, Shri Rajesh Dhakad, Shri Ravi Solanki, Shri Bahadur Singh Boramudla, Shri Om Jain, and other distinguished citizens.
