Rs 54-crore four-lane road project to give fresh impetus to Kawardha’s development
Raipur, September 2026: Deputy Chief Minister and Kawardha MLA Vijay Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao will perform the bhoomi pujan for the construction of an important four-lane road and divider project aimed at giving a fresh impetus to the development of Kawardha city.
The bhoomi pujan ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 24, at the newly developed Agricultural Produce Market Committee premises in Kabirdham district. Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey and other public representatives will also attend the programme.
The project involves upgrading a 7.8-km stretch of National Highway-30, from kilometre 50 to 57, into a four-lane road along with the construction of a divider. The project is being undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 54 crore.
The four-lane road will connect the Raipur route with the Bilaspur route, extending from Chandrayan Hospital through Kawardha city to beyond Joratal. Once completed, the project is expected to significantly improve connectivity and give further momentum to the development of the district headquarters.
The district administration has completed all preparations for the bhoomi pujan ceremony. The project is expected to make traffic movement through the city smoother and provide benefits to both residents and commercial activities.
As part of the four-lane road project, two grand entry gates will also be constructed at strategic locations. These gateways will be developed in keeping with Kawardha’s religious and cultural identity as a prominent religious centre.
The construction of the road and divider is being viewed as an important step towards improving Kawardha’s traffic management, enhancing the city’s appearance and addressing its future infrastructure requirements.
With the completion of the project, the city is expected to witness improved road connectivity and more organised traffic movement, while the upgraded infrastructure will also support the expansion of commercial and other development activities in Kawardha.
