Citizens should support each other to overcome the crisis
Dharashiv, Sept 2026 : The state government will stand firmly behind farmers during the crisis, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday, assuring that a decision has been taken to provide assistance to drought-affected farmers across the board.
A Government Resolution (GR) regarding the drought situation will be issued within the next two days, Fadnavis said.
The Chief Minister was speaking to farmers after inspecting damaged soybean crops at the farms of Ramhari Lomte and Sanjay Lomte in Malkapur village of Kalamb taluka.
Fadnavis said that while crop damage assessments, or panchnamas, would have to be conducted as per the prescribed legal procedure, the assistance would be provided across the board given the widespread nature of the situation.
“Since the situation is widespread, the decision on assistance will also be comprehensive,” he said, while urging citizens to extend support and cooperation to one another to overcome the drought crisis.
Drinking water, fodder and foodgrain arrangements
During the drought period, arrangements will be made through the state government for drinking water, fodder for livestock, children’s education and foodgrains, Fadnavis said.
The government has also decided that direct financial assistance being provided to farmers will be deposited into their bank accounts, he added.
The Chief Minister said the process of loan waiver was underway to provide relief to farmers and would continue until funds were credited to the accounts of all eligible beneficiaries.
He also said that outstanding electricity dues amounting to Rs 48,000 crore payable by farmers had been waived.
Fadnavis said the government’s position was to provide all possible assistance to farmers and stand firmly with them during the drought crisis. He expressed confidence that the state government would extend all necessary support to farmers during the difficult period.
