MLA Lt. Col. Clement Lalhmingthanga Visits Champhai for Mizo Territorial Army Coordination

Champhai, December 2025: Champhai South MLA Lt. Col. (Retd) Clement Lalhmingthanga visited Champhai Mualkawi along with the State Level Committee on Territorial Army Coordination and Establishment and the Mualkawi VC.

During the visit, he inspected the site and discussed plans for strengthening the presence of the Mizo Territorial Army. The discussions included arrangements at the Tlangsam Polytechnic building for MTA accommodation and other departmental facilities, as well as the preparation of the building for operational purposes.

The sanctioned strength of the MTA in Mizoram has been established in coordination with the Mizoram Government and 166 INF BN (TA) (Home & Hearth), Assam. Out of the total, 144 positions are designated for General Duty personnel from Mizoram, with 9 seats reserved for women.

During today’s Mizo Territorial Army site visit, Pu Lalduhthlanga, Joint Secretary of the Home Department, Dr. Lalnuntluanga, Director of Sainik Welfare & Settlement, Lian Vaphei, Company Officer of 166 INF BN (TA), along with representatives from Government Departments including P&E, PHED, Revenue, and PWD, also attended.
