Chhattisgarh Among Leading States in Implementing Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Ranks Fourth Nationwide in Providing Treatment Under the Scheme

Over 78 Lakh Beneficiaries Have Availed Free Treatment in Public and Private Hospitals

Raipur, Aug – 2025 : Chhattisgarh has made remarkable progress in the successful implementation of the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), securing the fourth position in the country in terms of treatment delivery. This achievement reflects the state government’s commitment to providing inclusive and accessible healthcare services, especially for economically weaker sections.

The state government has effectively integrated AB-PMJAY with its two flagship schemes — the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme and the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme. This integrated framework has enabled a large number of beneficiaries to avail cashless treatment facilities.

So far, over 78 lakh beneficiaries have received free treatment in public and private hospitals across the state. There has been a significant increase in the number of treatments conducted in public hospitals, indicating the growing public trust in the state’s healthcare infrastructure.

Keeping in mind the healthcare needs of senior citizens, the state has also strengthened the “Vay Vandana Yojana.” Under this initiative, more than 4.5 lakh Vay Vandana cards have been issued, benefiting approximately 48% of elderly ration cardholders in the state.

To encourage registrations, targeted outreach efforts have been made through ASHA workers, Gram Sabhas, urban health forums, old age homes, and residential colonies. Additionally, continuous contact and service facilitation are being provided through the 104 Call Center helpline. As part of a special initiative, six districts have been designated as “Vay Mitra Districts” to further strengthen healthcare security for senior citizens.
