Rinku Singh’s Blazing 83 Lifts KKR to 155 Despite Mohsin Khan’s Five-Wicket Haul

Lucknow, April 2026: A sensational unbeaten knock from Rinku Singh rescued Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) from a dire situation and powered them to a competitive 155/7 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

After being put in to bat, KKR endured a disastrous start as LSG’s left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan produced a stunning spell, returning figures of 5/23 — the best bowling performance in IPL 2026 so far.

KKR’s innings began on a shaky note, losing wickets at regular intervals. Tim Seifert was the first to depart, chipping a catch to cover. Captain Ajinkya Rahane followed soon after, falling for 10. Youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi was controversially given out for obstructing the field, while Rovman Powell edged behind, leaving KKR reeling at 31/4 inside the powerplay.

Cameron Green attempted to revive the innings with an aggressive 34 off 21 balls, including three sixes, but Mohsin’s relentless accuracy saw him dismissed as well. The left-arm seamer completed his five-wicket haul by removing Anukul Roy for a duck, reducing KKR to a precarious position and seemingly heading toward a sub-par total.

Amid the collapse, Rinku Singh stood tall, anchoring the innings with remarkable composure. He built small but crucial partnerships, adding 20 runs with Ramandeep Singh and an unbeaten 62-run stand with Sunil Narine.

Rinku reached his half-century off 42 balls and then shifted gears dramatically in the death overs. His late assault proved decisive, particularly in the final over bowled by Digvesh Rathi. After surviving a review, Rinku unleashed a breathtaking barrage, smashing four consecutive sixes to collect 26 runs in the over.

His unbeaten 83 off 50 balls, studded with seven fours and five sixes at a strike rate of over 160, turned the game on its head and propelled KKR past the 150-run mark — a total that looked unlikely during the early collapse.

Despite the strong finish, the target of 156 remains within reach for LSG. However, on a pitch where batting has not been easy, Rinku’s late heroics have given KKR a fighting chance to push for only their second win of the season.

Brief Scores:
Kolkata Knight Riders 155/7 (20 overs) — Rinku Singh 83*, Cameron Green 34; Mohsin Khan 5/23, George Linde 1/18.
