Canal Expansion Under Kshirpani Medium Project to Boost Irrigation Capacity and Benefit Farmers

Raipur, May 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday visited Dongariya village in the Pandariya development block of Kabirdham district, where he offered prayers and performed Jalabhishek at the renowned Jaleshwar Mahadev Dham following traditional rituals.

The Chief Minister prayed to Lord Shiva for the happiness, peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people of the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Rajya Sabha MP Laxmi Verma, Pandariya MLA Bhavana Bohra, Takhatpur MLA Dharamjeet Singh, along with several public representatives, social leaders, and devotees, were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai said that the cultural and spiritual traditions of Chhattisgarh form an integral part of the state’s identity. He stated that such sacred religious centres are not merely places of worship but also important institutions that unite society and preserve the state’s rich cultural heritage.

He added that the state government is continuously working not only for development but also for the protection, preservation, and promotion of cultural and religious heritage sites.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced several important projects aimed at strengthening regional infrastructure and improving public facilities.

He announced canal expansion works under the Kshirpani Medium Reservoir Project at an estimated cost of ₹50 crore. The project is expected to expand irrigation facilities across nearly 1,100 hectares of agricultural land, providing significant benefits to farmers in the region.

The Chief Minister also announced ₹50 lakh for the development and beautification of Jaleshwar Mahadev Dham.

In addition, he declared the upgradation of the approximately 2.5-kilometre road connecting Kharhatta to Dongariya village, stating that the project would improve transportation and make travel more convenient for local residents and devotees visiting the temple.

Jaleshwar Mahadev Dham, located in Dongariya village of Kabirdham district, is considered a highly revered pilgrimage site among local devotees. According to popular belief, the Shivling at the temple manifested naturally.

Surrounded by scenic natural beauty, the temple attracts large numbers of devotees, especially during the holy month of Shravan, on Shravan Mondays, and during the festival of Maha Shivaratri.

Situated amidst picturesque hills and riverbanks, the shrine is widely known for its spiritual atmosphere and deep connection with Shiva worship.
