PM Modi to Visit UAE, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy from May 15
New Delhi, May 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a five-nation official visit from May 15 to May 20, covering the United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Monday. The visit is expected to strengthen India’s strategic, economic and technological partnerships with key nations in Europe and the Gulf region.
The Prime Minister will begin his tour with a visit to the United Arab Emirates on May 15, where he will hold talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Discussions are expected to focus on bilateral cooperation, energy security, trade and investment, as well as ways to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
In the second leg of the visit, PM Modi will travel to the Netherlands from May 15 to 17 at the invitation of Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten. During the visit, he will meet King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, besides holding bilateral talks with Prime Minister Jetten.
According to the Ministry, discussions in the Netherlands will focus on enhancing cooperation in sectors such as defence, security, innovation, semiconductors, green hydrogen and water management under the India-Netherlands Strategic Partnership on Water.
From the Netherlands, the Prime Minister will proceed to Gothenburg in Sweden on May 17 for a two-day visit at the invitation of Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The two leaders are expected to review the full spectrum of bilateral ties and explore fresh opportunities for collaboration in areas including Artificial Intelligence, green transition, start-ups, emerging technologies, resilient supply chains, defence, climate action and space research.
The fourth leg of the tour will take PM Modi to Norway from May 18 to 19 for the third India-Nordic Summit and bilateral engagements. This will be his first visit to Norway and also the first prime ministerial visit from India to the Nordic nation in 43 years.
During his stay in Norway, PM Modi will meet King Harald V and Queen Sonja, and hold talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store. He is also scheduled to address the India-Norway Business and Research Summit alongside the Norwegian Prime Minister, with a focus on strengthening economic and research partnerships.
In the final leg of the visit, the Prime Minister will travel to Italy from May 19 to 20 at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. During the visit, he will call on Italian President Sergio Mattarella and hold wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Meloni on bilateral and global issues.
The Ministry of External Affairs said the multi-nation tour is expected to further deepen India’s engagement with Europe, especially in trade, investment, technology and strategic cooperation, following the recently concluded India-European Union Free Trade Agreement negotiations.
