Kavitha Meets Telangana Governor, Seeks Relief for Land Acquisition Affected Families

Hyderabad, May 2026 : Telangana Rakshana Samithi (TRS) President K. Kavitha on Tuesday met Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan and sought justice for people displaced due to land acquisition by the state government in several parts of Telangana.

Kavitha, along with Dharma Samaj Party President Visharadan Maharaj and a delegation of affected families, submitted a detailed petition to the Governor highlighting multiple grievances related to ongoing and proposed land acquisition drives across the state.

The delegation specifically urged the Governor to ensure that house sites are provided to all families whose homes were demolished in Velugumatla village in Khammam district. They also demanded the cancellation of land acquisition notices issued for the proposed Industrial Park in Kadlapur village of Parigi Mandal.

In addition, they raised objections to changes made in the alignment of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project, claiming that such alterations were leading to increased displacement and uncertainty among landowners. The delegation also highlighted land acquisition concerns in Rayagiri and other nearby areas.

According to party sources, the delegation included two representatives each from Velugumatla, Kadlapur and regions affected by the RRR project, who shared firsthand accounts of their difficulties during the meeting.

Speaking to media persons after meeting the Governor at Lok Bhavan, Kavitha said the Governor had responded positively to their representations and expressed hope that justice would eventually be delivered to the affected families.

She strongly criticised the Congress-led government headed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing it of forcibly demolishing houses belonging to poor families, particularly women, without adequate rehabilitation measures.

Kavitha alleged that the Chief Minister was misleading the public by claiming that the displaced families had been financially empowered, referring to statements that they were made “millionaires” through welfare benefits such as distribution of sarees worth Rs 100.

Calling the Chief Minister “ruthless” and describing the state government as a “wicked administration,” she alleged that the government was ignoring the plight of vulnerable communities affected by development projects.

She said the TRS and Dharma Samaj Party have been actively fighting on behalf of those affected by the industrial park project in Parigi, house demolitions in Velugumatla, and displacement linked to the Regional Ring Road project.

“As a result of our struggle, the government has agreed to allocate land to the victims in Velugumatla at the same location. It has also temporarily halted land acquisition for the Pargi industrial park and the RRR project. These are partial victories for us,” Kavitha said.

However, she stressed that the struggle was far from over and claimed that intervention from the Central government would be necessary to ensure complete justice for all displaced families.

Kavitha said the purpose of meeting the Governor was to apprise him of the ground situation and seek his intervention in directing the concerned authorities to act in favour of affected people. She expressed confidence that the Governor would seek a detailed report on the issues and respond in a constructive manner.

She also warned that if justice was not delivered to the victims, the party would intensify its agitation in the coming days to press for their demands.

The issue has added to ongoing political tensions in the state over land acquisition policies and rehabilitation measures, with opposition parties accusing the government of ignoring the concerns of rural and economically weaker sections.
