CM Yogi Expresses Grief Over Hamirpur Accident, Announces Financial Aid for Victims

Lucknow, May 2026 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident in Hamirpur district, where workers lost their lives in a mishap at an under-construction bridge over the Betwa River.

Describing the incident as extremely painful and heart-wrenching, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each for the kin of the victims and ₹50,000 each for the injured.

The Chief Minister also took cognisance of widespread damage caused by strong winds, storms, heavy rain, and lightning strikes in several districts of the state late Thursday night. He directed officials to expedite rescue and relief operations and ensure quick assessment of losses.

Immediately after receiving information about the Hamirpur incident, CM Yogi directed the district administration to carry out rescue and relief operations on a war footing in coordination with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). He instructed that the injured be provided immediate and adequate medical treatment and assured that all possible assistance should be extended to affected families.

He further made it clear that any negligence in relief operations would not be tolerated and asked senior officials to closely monitor the situation.

Taking note of the weather-related destruction across multiple districts, the Chief Minister instructed all District Magistrates to immediately conduct field surveys to assess damage and ensure prompt distribution of compensation. He stressed that relief measures must be implemented without delay.

CM Yogi also directed that rescue and relief activities should be continuously monitored, with updated reports submitted to the state government every three hours. He asked officials to share information regarding compensation distribution, relief camps, and rescue operations on social media platforms to ensure accurate and timely communication with the public.

The Chief Minister appealed to citizens across the state to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions, avoid unnecessary travel, and strictly follow advisories issued by the administration.

He emphasised that public safety remains the government’s top priority and assured that the state administration is fully committed to providing immediate relief and support to those affected by natural calamities and accidents.
