Jaipur, May 2026: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Friday inaugurated the Neendar-Bainad Biodiversity Project Eco Trail in the Neendar forest area. On the occasion, he performed shramdaan (voluntary labor) at an anicut under the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign and appealed to the public to actively participate in the conservation and enhancement of water structures.

The Chief Minister said that the Neendar forest is an exceptionally beautiful area with immense potential. The state government plans to develop it through extensive plantation drives so that it can also emerge as a destination for nature tourism.

He said that under the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign, efforts are being made to construct anicuts and water-harvesting structures at several locations to collect and preserve rainwater. Drawing inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, the state government has set a target of planting 100 million saplings this year as well.

Sharma stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Rajasthan government is continuously working towards making the state water self-reliant. He said that the Hariyalo Rajasthan initiative and the Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign will provide a new direction to environmental protection and water conservation through public participation across the state.

During the visit, he directed officials to develop environmentally friendly facilities in the Neendar forest area, including trekking tracks and other amenities for visitors.

Upholding Traditions of Nature Worship

The Chief Minister also observed traditional cultural practices associated with nature worship. Accompanied by Vedic chanting, he performed a ceremonial worship of a Peepal tree.

He later offered prayers at a Shiva temple and prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of the people of Rajasthan. He installed water pots for birds and distributed Tulsi saplings to women as part of environmental awareness efforts.

To promote environmental conservation, Sharma planted a white sandalwood sapling and encouraged citizens to contribute to greening initiatives.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Forest and Environment Sanjay Sharma, local public representatives, senior government officials, and members of the public were present on the occasion.
