Nine-Day Shri Ram Katha Begins with Grand Kalash Yatra in Lucknow

Jagadguru Rambhadracharya: “Our Resolve is to Make the Nation Ram-Maya”

Lucknow, June 2026 : The nine-day Shri Ram Katha by Padma Vibhushan Jagadguru Rambhadracharya commenced on Monday in Lucknow with a grand Kalash Yatra and an enthusiastic participation of devotees. The event, being held at the Brij Ki Rasoi complex on Sitapur Road, marks the 1,423rd Shri Ram Katha delivered by the revered spiritual leader.

On the opening day of the discourse, Jagadguru Rambhadracharya elaborated on the Panchavati episode from the Ramayana and explained the five significant questions posed by Lakshman to Lord Ram and the profound answers given by him. He also spoke about the concept of Navadha Bhakti (nine forms of devotion), stating that listening to the divine name, devotional singing, remembrance of God, service to the Lord’s feet, and other forms of devotion serve as pathways that connect the human heart with the Almighty.

Expressing concern over the current global situation, the Jagadguru said the world is passing through an unprecedented period of uncertainty and tension. He emphasized that India remains secure and strong because it is a nation inspired by divine grace, faith, and love.

Prior to the commencement of the Katha, a magnificent Kalash and holy scripture procession was taken out. Hundreds of women devotees participated by carrying sacred pots on their heads and chanting “Jai Shri Ram” as they proceeded to the venue amid traditional music and religious fervour. The Kalash installation ceremony was performed with Vedic rituals.

The programme was formally inaugurated by MLA Dr. Neeraj Bora and his family, who performed Guru Pad Pujan (worship of the Guru’s feet) in the presence of devotees and dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Jagadguru Rambhadracharya stressed that safeguarding the nation’s culture and identity is the responsibility of every citizen. He reiterated his commitment to making India “Ram-Maya” — imbued with the ideals and values of Lord Ram.

He also praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and announced the establishment of a new Gurukulam from January 14 next year. The institution, to be based in Chitrakoot, will focus on promoting Indian culture and the Sanskrit language. In addition to traditional teaching, it will offer online Sanskrit education to learners across the world.

Referring to the Ram Janmabhoomi case, Jagadguru Rambhadracharya said that the testimony he provided during the judicial proceedings helped answer several crucial questions with authenticity and historical evidence. He described the construction of the Ram Temple as a historic victory for Indian faith and cultural consciousness.

He also praised senior advocate Ranjana Agnihotri, who has been associated with important cases related to Ram Janmabhoomi and other cultural issues. Referring to the Bhojshala dispute, he described the verdict in favour of Hindus as a significant achievement and remarked that he would visit Bhojshala once the idol of Goddess Saraswati currently in London is returned to India.

During the discourse, he also commented on a recent Bakrid-related incident, urging society to remain vigilant and prepared to defend itself against injustice. He called upon people to stand united against oppression and work continuously for the protection of the nation and its cultural heritage.

A large number of devotees attended the opening day of the Katha. Representatives from Utsav, Bharat Lok Shiksha Parishad, Shyam Premi Sangh, Bora Foundation, and several social, religious, and cultural organisations were also present on the occasion.
