Strong demand abroad for Panchgavya and Ayurvedic products made from indigenous cows
UP becomes a national guide in cow protection; people from 15 states including Gujarat, Kerala and Haryana receiving training in cow care
Lucknow, June 2026 : Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a role model for the country and the world. Panchgavya and Ayurvedic products made from indigenous cows in the state are now reaching countries such as the United States, Germany, Japan, Australia and several Gulf nations.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the policy of linking cow protection with economic activities has given Uttar Pradesh a new identity both nationally and internationally.
UP has also become a guiding force in cow protection. As a result, people from 15 states, including Gujarat, Kerala and Haryana, are learning cow protection practices from Uttar Pradesh.
Around 200 products made from indigenous cows in Uttar Pradesh are now establishing their presence in international markets. Products such as Panchgavya Ghrit, Brahmi Ghrit, Gomutra Ark, Ghanvati, Chyawanprash, Cow Ghee, Shatdhauta Ghrit and Ayurvedic Kajal are witnessing steadily growing demand abroad.
These products are reaching several countries, including the United States, Canada, the UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, Germany, Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Thailand. Growing interest in natural lifestyles, Ayurveda and traditional Indian medicine has created new markets for cow-based products from Uttar Pradesh.
One of Uttar Pradesh’s biggest achievements has been linking cow protection with economic value. Cow dung, Gaumootra (cow urine), ghee and Panchgavya-based products are now being developed into a structured industry. This transformation has established indigenous cows not only as livestock but also as a source of rural income and entrepreneurship. Self-help groups, cowsheds and small entrepreneurs in villages are also benefiting economically from this sector.
After working as a software engineer, Ghaziabad-based Asim Rawat chose to work in the field of indigenous cow conservation and cow-based products. Inspired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, his initiative has grown into HETHA, which now serves markets in India and abroad. According to Asim Rawat, if products from indigenous cows are developed scientifically and connected to markets, this sector can play a major role in strengthening the rural economy of India.
The Uttar Pradesh model is now inspiring other states as well. Asim Rawat is providing training to people from more than 15 states, including Gujarat, Haryana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Goa, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Through these programmes, people are taught the finer aspects of cow protection. Teams from other states are regularly visiting Uttar Pradesh to understand cow protection, breed improvement and business models based on cow-derived products.
According to Mukesh Meshram, Additional Chief Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department, the Yogi Government is providing up to 50 percent subsidy for rearing improved indigenous cow breeds. Special emphasis is being placed on the conservation and promotion of breeds such as Sahiwal, Gir, Gangatiri and Tharparkar.
Various schemes of the Yogi Government have given fresh momentum to the dairy sector and cow-based industries, helping increase the income of farmers and livestock rearers.
Indigenous cows, once considered an economic burden, are now becoming the foundation of a cow-based economy worth crores of rupees under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This is why the Uttar Pradesh model of cow protection has become a subject of discussion across the country and abroad. Linking cow protection with economic development has made the UP model an example not only for other states but also for other countries.
