Court Summons Allu Arjun in Sandhya Theatre Stampede Case, Orders Appearance on June 22

Hyderabad, June 2026 : A city court in Hyderabad on Friday issued summons to popular Telugu film star Allu Arjun in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case, directing him to appear in person before the court on June 22.

The actor has been named as Accused No. 11 (A11) in the case arising from the tragic stampede that occurred during the premiere screening of his blockbuster film Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4, 2024. The incident resulted in the death of a woman and left her young son critically injured, triggering widespread public outrage and a high-profile police investigation.

The Nampally Criminal Court has so far issued summons to 19 of the 23 accused named in the chargesheet filed by the police. Among those accused are members of the theatre management, who have been listed as the first ten accused, along with eight members of Allu Arjun’s personal security team.

The court proceedings are expected to formally begin after all accused individuals appear before the judge and complete the required legal formalities.

The tragic incident took place when Allu Arjun attended a special premiere show of Pushpa 2: The Rule at the iconic Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. Large crowds had gathered outside and inside the theatre to catch a glimpse of the actor. According to investigators, the situation spiralled out of control upon his arrival, leading to a stampede-like situation.

Among those present was M. Revathi, who had come to watch the film along with her husband and children. During the rush, she was fatally injured, while her son sustained serious injuries and required extensive medical treatment.

Following the incident, Hyderabad police registered a case against the theatre management, Allu Arjun and members of his team. They were booked under charges related to culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other relevant provisions of law.

The case took a dramatic turn on December 13, 2024, when police arrested Allu Arjun. He was produced before the Nampally Court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.

Soon after his arrest, the actor’s legal team approached the Telangana High Court seeking relief. The High Court granted him interim bail on the same day, paving the way for his release from jail the following day. Subsequently, the Nampally Court granted him regular bail.

As part of the investigation, police summoned and questioned the actor on December 24, 2024. He was interrogated for nearly three hours at Chikkadpally Police Station. Investigators reportedly showed him a specially prepared 10-minute video compiled from CCTV footage collected from the theatre premises and surrounding areas to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the stampede.

Police completed their investigation and filed a comprehensive chargesheet against 23 accused in December last year. The chargesheet details the alleged lapses in crowd management and security arrangements that investigators believe contributed to the tragedy.

With the court now issuing summons, the case has entered a crucial legal phase. The proceedings are expected to attract significant public and media attention given the involvement of one of Telugu cinema’s biggest stars and the tragic circumstances surrounding the incident.
