Ferran Torres Says ‘Destiny Was Written’ After Firing Spain to World Cup Glory

New York, July 2026 : Spain’s World Cup final hero Ferran Torres said it was “destiny” for his team to become world champions after his extra-time winner secured a 1-0 victory over 10-man Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final.

Torres, who came on as a substitute for Mikel Oyarzabal in the 62nd minute, etched his name into Spanish football history by scoring the decisive goal in the 106th minute. The Barcelona forward latched onto a headed knockdown from Nico Williams before firing a powerful left-footed shot past Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to hand Spain their second FIFA World Cup title and their first since 2010.

Speaking after the victory, Torres dedicated the triumph to the people of Spain, saying the winning goal belonged to the entire nation.
