Vijay’s TVK Gears Up for 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections with Grand Campaign Launch

Chennai, Jan 2026 : Actor-turned-politician Vijay is preparing to formally launch the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election campaign of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), with a series of high-profile political events set to commence in February.

Party sources confirmed that the campaign will kick off with a grand state-level conference, supplemented by three major public rallies across different regions of Tamil Nadu, all to be personally addressed by Vijay. These events are intended to energise party workers, consolidate the cadre, and establish Vijay as the central face of the party’s electoral drive.

Officials noted that the leadership has also devised a contingency plan. If logistical or strategic constraints prevent the state-level conference, TVK will instead organise five large-scale public meetings in separate regions, ensuring continuous voter outreach and visibility for the party.

The campaign blueprint was reportedly finalised during a recent strategy session with TVK’s chief coordinator K.A. Sengottaiyan and members of the party’s election campaign committee. Discussions centred on region-wise mobilisation, targeted messaging, and overcoming ground-level challenges, particularly as TVK works to expand its organisational network across the state.

During the meeting, several district secretaries raised concerns about the difficulty of obtaining official permissions for even small gatherings and distributing campaign material. Sources said Sengottaiyan advised them to approach senior district officials and, if needed, escalate issues to state-level party functionaries to highlight any bureaucratic hurdles politically.

The leadership emphasised that such administrative challenges should not slow the party’s outreach efforts, with election preparations now being treated as a top priority for 2026.

In parallel with the campaign launch, TVK plans to celebrate its second anniversary at the party’s Panaiyur office in Chennai. Vijay is expected to participate and address party functionaries, reinforcing efforts to strengthen the organisational base and boost morale among workers ahead of the polls.

Meanwhile, TVK Deputy General Secretary C.T. Nirmal Kumar criticised the AIADMK, asserting that the real contest in the state is between the DMK and TVK. “AIADMK, which is meant to oppose the DMK, is instead targeting us without reason. We are not concerned about parties that are not in the field,” he said, signalling TVK’s intent to position itself as a serious challenger in the evolving Tamil Nadu political landscape.

With Vijay at the forefront, TVK’s campaign is expected to blend high-profile public engagements with strategic grassroots mobilisation, aiming to capture voter attention and consolidate support in the lead-up to the 2026 Assembly elections. The party’s ambitious plans signal a shift into full electoral mode, underscoring its intent to play a decisive role in Tamil Nadu politics in the coming year.
