Bharat Dwar in Ayodhya to Welcome Devotees Nears Completion
Ayodhya, Jan 2026 : Construction of Bharat Dwar, the grand entrance to welcome devotees visiting Ayodhya, is progressing rapidly. Located on the Ayodhya-Sultanpur route (Mainuddinpur- Prayagraj road) within the TFC gate complex area, this monumental project is one of the key initiatives of the Yogi government. The Uttar Pradesh Projects Corporation Limited (UPPCL) is executing the project under the Tourism Department’s ambitious plan.
Spanning 4.410 hectares with a total cost of approximately ₹20.25 crore, Bharat Dwar is now over 90% complete. Project Manager Manoj Kumar Sharma stated that the remaining work is expected to be finished next month, with inauguration likely in February 2026. The gate will serve as the first point of welcome for Ram devotees, symbolically honoring Lord Ram’s younger brother, Bharat, and his devotion and principles.
Six Ramayana-Inspired Gates
Following the Pran-Pratishtha of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple, the Yogi government has initiated multiple projects to transform Ayodhya into a world-class tourist hub. This includes constructing six grand gates inspired by the Ramayana along major routes leading to the city: Ram Dwar, Lakshman Dwar, Shatrughna Dwar, Bharat Dwar, Sita Dwar, and Hanuman Dwar. Bharat Dwar, on the Ayodhya-Sultanpur route, will feature sculptures, carvings, lighting, and amenities inspired by the Treta Yuga, offering devotees a spiritually immersive experience.
Boost to Tourism and Local Economy
Since the temple’s consecration, there has been a remarkable increase in visitors, with millions of devotees arriving daily. Creating majestic city entrances like Bharat Dwar will facilitate smoother traffic, enhance tourism, and strengthen the local economy. Reflecting Bharat’s devotion, the gate will emotionally welcome every arriving pilgrim.
Development of Surrounding Infrastructure
The project integrates local artisans, architects, and engineers to blend traditional Indian craftsmanship with modern technology. Alongside the gate, facilities including green spaces, parking, restrooms, and other essential amenities are being developed to ensure a convenient experience for visitors.
