India U19 Men Virtually Interact with Sachin Tendulkar Ahead of Super Six Clash Against Pakistan

Bulawayo, Jan 2026 : The India under-19 men’s cricket team had a special virtual interaction with legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar ahead of their crucial Super Six match against Pakistan in the ongoing U-19 World Cup. The session provided the young players with valuable insights on the ingredients for success in cricket beyond just technical skills. Tendulkar emphasized the importance of focus, discipline, humility, fitness, and staying grounded in a competitive sport.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared the experience on its social media, noting that the interaction offered the next generation guidance on longevity and adaptability in an evolving game. The post included pictures of the entire U19 squad with their support staff – head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar, bowling coach Sunil Joshi, and fielding coach Subhadeep Ghosh – alongside Tendulkar. Also visible was VVS Laxman, former Indian cricketer and Head of Cricket at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, who wrote on social media about the team’s hunger, focus, and pride in representing India on the global stage.

This interaction comes at a pivotal moment in the tournament. England secured a semifinal spot with a 65-run win over New Zealand, while Afghanistan advanced after a 191-run victory over Ireland, making Sunday’s India-Pakistan encounter essentially a virtual knockout. Only one team from Group 2 will progress to the semifinals, heightening the stakes.

India, captained by Ayush Mhatre, started the Super Six stage strongly, recording a 204-run win over Zimbabwe earlier in the week at Queens Sports Club. The victory was propelled by a brilliant century from Vihaan Malhotra and a steady fifty from Abhigyan Kundu, showcasing the team’s depth and batting strength.

Pakistan, however, suffered a setback ahead of the key clash, as wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Shayan was ruled out after being struck on the nose during a scenario-based practice match. X-rays confirmed a fracture, forcing him to miss the tournament and leaving a gap in Pakistan’s line-up.

The Indian U19 squad, inspired by Tendulkar’s guidance and buoyed by their strong performances so far, will now face Pakistan with focus and determination, aiming to secure a semifinal berth and maintain their unbeaten run in the Super Six stage. The stage is set for a high-pressure contest that could define the team’s U-19 World Cup campaign.
