Hailstorm-Hit Crops to be Surveyed, Immediate Relief for Farmers: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav directed collectors in districts affected by hailstorms to conduct crop surveys and ensure the immediate disbursement of relief assistance to farmers. With the objective of safeguarding farmers’ interests and doubling their income, the year 2026 is being observed as the Farmer Welfare Year. Under this initiative, Agriculture Cabinet meetings will be organised in the Malwa, Nimar, Chambal and Vindhya regions. To diversify farm income, farmers are being encouraged to adopt allied activities such as horticulture, dairy and fisheries. As part of these efforts, the state recently hosted its first-ever State-level Flower Festival. Flower production and improved domestic and international marketing mechanisms will be promoted. Special measures are being implemented to ensure effective stubble management and to curb stubble burning. The state government is considering the inclusion of mustard and other oilseed crops under the Bhavantar Scheme. Additionally, a policy is being formulated to promote urad in place of moong, for which enhancing farmer awareness and motivation is essential. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav delivered the pre-Cabinet address to ministers on Tuesday.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav appreciated the grand organisation of the State-level MP Youth Games–2026 and said that indigenous sports should also be included in such prestigious events. He informed that the bed capacity at Rewa Medical College has been increased by 750 beds, and that the capacity of other medical colleges in the state will also be enhanced. He described the facilities developed at Shri Pashupatinath Lok and the measures taken to prevent deterioration of the statue there as exemplary. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav further stated that at the Annadata Samman Ceremony held in Malhargarh, Mandsaur, ₹200 crore was transferred to the accounts of 1.17 lakh soybean farmers under the Bhavantar Scheme.

Referring to the Union Budget presented under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that it marks a significant step towards achieving the goals of Viksit Bharat. He said that the emphasis on the recommendations of the Finance Commission, rather than political considerations, is a key feature of the budget. The Chief Minister directed ministers to inform the general public about the salient features of the Union Budget in their respective areas.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also praised the eco-sensitive accommodation model and employment-generating innovations implemented through the Tent City at the Rann Utsav in Kutch. Drawing inspiration from initiatives such as safari experiences and rescue centres at Gir National Park, he emphasised the need to undertake similar activities in Madhya Pradesh.
