National Workshop on Pulses crops under “Dalhan Atmanirbharata Mission”

Bhubaneswar, Feb 2026 The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare held a National Workshop on Pulses crops under the “Rashtriya Dalhan Atmanirbharata Mission” in Chairmanship of Hon’ble Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan today at Amlaha, Sehore, Madhya Pradesh.

Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Energy Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo participated in the above workshop and highlighted the scenario of the state of Odisha.

Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Chouhan stated that, for the self-reliance of the country, for the welfare of farmers, Dalhan Atmanirbharata Mission was launched. Importing pulses from abroad is not a pleasure, it is a matter of shame. Dalhan Atmanirbharata Mission is not just a mission to increase pulse production but also a campaign to empower our farmers.

Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Singh Deo highlighted Odisha’s continuous effort to empower farmers and stated that, Odisha’s agricultural sector has been experiencing significant growth & transformation, driven by strategic policy initiatives, technological adoption, and climate resilient agricultural practices.
On one hand Odisha provides input assistance to farmers for paddy cultivation & empowers them and on the other to be self-reliant we also do Comprehensive Project on Rice Fallow Management (CRFM). It is a flagship initiative of the state government, Odisha, which aims to convert vast rice fallow lands into productive areas growing short-duration pulses & oil seeds during Rabi season. It is worth noting that, in Rabi 2025-26, 3.5 lakh Ha demonstrations have been programmed in all the districts of the state.
With all the progressive steps, Odisha is going to be the developmental hub among the Purvodaya States in agriculture, Shri Singh Deo added.

Agriculture Ministers from various other states, VC OUAT Dr Pravat Kumar Roul from Odisha and representatives from ICAR and ICARDA also attended the workshop.
