Submit Report on Rule Violations at Gilbert Hill in Andheri West – Minister Pankaja Munde
Mumbai, Feb 2026 : Pankaja Munde, Minister for Environment and Climate Change, stated that Gilbert Hill is an environmentally sensitive and significant area. As it falls under the green zone, she directed that all concerned departments coordinate with each other, ascertain the factual position regarding alleged violations during project development, take appropriate action, and submit a detailed report.
An official review meeting on the matter was held at the Mantralaya under her chairpersonship. The meeting was attended by Environment and Climate Change Department Secretary Jayashree Bhoj, along with senior officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the Revenue Department, the Slum Rehabilitation Authority, and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board.
Minister Munde said that in view of complaints regarding unauthorized construction in the Andheri West Gilbert Hill area, it is essential to ensure strict compliance with all mandatory permissions and regulations applicable to green zones. She instructed that the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Slum Rehabilitation Authority, and other concerned departments conduct a joint inspection of the site and initiate necessary action accordingly.
