KTR Accuses Revanth Reddy of Turning Telangana into ‘ATM’ for Congress High Command
Hyderabad, Feb 2026 : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao on Sunday launched a sharp attack on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging that the state has been reduced to an “ATM” for the All India Congress Committee (AICC) under the current Congress government.
In a strongly worded statement, Rama Rao said that Revanth Reddy had now “openly admitted” what the BRS leader had been consistently alleging over the past two years — that Telangana’s financial resources are being diverted to serve the interests of the Congress leadership. KTR was reacting to reports of the Chief Minister’s remarks suggesting that Telangana Congress workers could arrange ₹1,000 crore for the Gandhi family if required.
According to KTR, the reported statement reflects the Congress government’s priorities and exposes what he described as the systematic transfer of the state’s wealth to the party’s central leadership. “Telangana’s self-respect is being auctioned on the streets of Delhi,” he alleged, accusing the ruling dispensation of compromising the state’s dignity for political survival.
The former minister also criticised the Congress government for repeatedly citing financial constraints while failing to fulfil what he called “420 promises” made to farmers, women, youth, government employees and pensioners during the election campaign. He questioned how a government that claims to have no money for welfare and development could allegedly be willing to mobilise such a massive sum for party leaders.
KTR further alleged that despite claiming fiscal distress, the Congress government has pushed Telangana into unprecedented debt. He said the state has accumulated nearly ₹3 lakh crore in debt over the last two years, yet there is little evidence of corresponding development on the ground. “There is no record of even a single brick being laid, while public money is being siphoned off instead of being used for public welfare,” he claimed.
Raising concerns over alleged land-related irregularities, Rama Rao accused the government of targeting vulnerable communities in the name of development and beautification projects. He said that under the pretext of rejuvenating the Musi river, houses of the poor are being demolished, while tribal lands in Lagacharla and even land belonging to University of Hyderabad are allegedly not being spared.
The BRS leader also alleged that influential individuals, whom he referred to as the “Anumula Brothers,” are grabbing prime industrial lands under the guise of the HILT Policy, resulting in what he termed a systematic plunder of Telangana’s resources.
Concluding his statement, KTR accused Revanth Reddy of pursuing a single agenda — “looting Telangana, securing his own position, and ferrying money to Delhi.” He urged the people of Telangana to remain vigilant against what he described as the Congress government’s misuse of public funds, warning that such actions could push the state’s future into “darkness.”
