Appeal from District Sports Officer, Mumbai Suburbs: Call for Proposals for District Level Sports Awards

Mumbai : The Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, State of Maharashtra, under the District Sports Officer for Pune and Mumbai Suburbs, invites applications from meritorious sportspersons (male, female, and differently-abled) and sports mentors from the Mumbai Suburban District for the District Sports Awards for the year 2023-24.

The District Sports Awards are presented to outstanding athletes and sports mentors in the district to recognize their contributions and encourage further excellence. For the year 2022-23, these awards will honor meritorious athletes (men, women, and differently-abled) and sports mentors.

Eligibility Criteria for Awards:

(a) Sports Mentor Award:

1. The applicant must have resided in Maharashtra, specifically in the concerned district, for 15 consecutive years.
2. The applicant must be at least 35 years old and have worked as a sports guide for at least 10 consecutive years.
3. Performance within the district will be considered for scoring.
4. Sports guides who have trained medal winners at the State and National levels in the senior category, and medal winners at the National level in Junior, School, Rural, and Women (Khelo India) categories over the last ten years, are eligible for the award.

(b) Athlete Award (Male, Female, and Differently-Abled):

1. The athlete must have represented the district in an official competition of recognized sports for at least two years out of the preceding five consecutive years, including the year of the award.
2. The athlete’s performance in official State/National Championship competitions of recognized sports over the last five years at the state and national levels, including senior/junior school and national school events organized by the Central Government, will be considered. The best three years of performance out of these will be evaluated.

Interested candidates for the awards should submit their applications in the prescribed format by October 29, 2024 (excluding holidays) at the District Sports Officer’s Office, located at the Government College of Physical Education Premises, Opposite Sambhajinagar, Akurli Road, Kandivali (East), Mumbai 400101, during office hours only.
